Another Announcement from Valentino

Italian fashion house Valentino announced that it will not present its men’s and couture fashion shows in June following the departure of its creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. Both collections have generally and historically been exhibited in Paris, except during the COVID-19 years.

The brand stated that they decided to end their collaboration with Piccioli on Friday and that a new creative organization will be announced soon. “Creativity will continue to drive the company as an important pillar and shape new future collections,” it was said.

Piccioli’s departure comes as Valentino owner Mayhoola undergoes a series of changes. Both the CEO and head of marketing of Valentino’s sister brand Balmain have left the company in recent weeks. Meanwhile, former Chloé CEO Riccardo Bellini has joined the group in a yet-to-be-announced role. Valentino will soon announce a new creative director.

Multiple sources report that Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele is negotiating with Valentino to take on the role left vacant by Piccioli. Valentino declined to comment.
