Harry and Meghan Update on Royal Website

While much of the royal news and commentary has focused on questions about Kate Middleton’s health and whereabouts, the royal family has quietly made a move to further distance themselves from former royals Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Like the rest of the family, Harry and Meghan had their own personal, longer biographies on the royal family’s website royal.uk. However, the site recently removed Harry and Meghan’s individual biographies and updated their space with a joint biography. They are now listed simply as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

There is also a foreword that reads: “As announced in January 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have stepped back as working members of the Royal Family. The couple married at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on 19 May 2018 and have two children: Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.”

In a hint at the renewal, Prince Harry and Meghan’s newly shared bio says: “Information about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s current work can be found on their official website: sussex.com.”

Harry and Meghan’s children were also affected by the website change, although more severely. Archie and Lilibet’s biographies have been completely removed.

Buckingham Palace did not comment on why this change was made.

They had talked about website changes before. “The Royal Family website contains over five thousand pages of information about the life and work of the Royal Family. The late Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Following Elizabeth’s death, the content was periodically revised and updated. “Some content may be out of date until this process is completed.”
