Statement Necklaces Play the Leading Role

The jewelry moments of the 81st Golden Globe Awards were filled with plenty of sparkle and shine. Necklaces in eye-catchingly large silhouettes, which are the trend of the season, were among the strongest looks on the red carpet.

Dua Lipa’s elegant vintage Tiffany & Co. Her necklace wrapped impressively around her neck like a snake. Reese Witherspoon, Ali Wong and Emily Blunt preferred glittering details. Julianne Moore made a big impact by choosing a simple sparkling chain necklace as the ideal accent to her fiery red dress. Florence Pugh, on the other hand, embraced the style of a rebellious jewelery moment.

We examine the best and bold necklace moments of the night.

Dua Lipa
Fun, playful, and still strikingly sexy… Lipa chose to go to the archives for her jewelry, choosing a 1962 Tiffany & Co necklace that perfectly matched her dramatic Schiaparelli dress.

Emily Blunt
Kudos to Blunt (and her stylist, of course) for choosing a jewelry piece (Tiffany & Co. Schlumberger) that matched the embellished floral motif of her dress so well.

julianne moore
A simple but impressive Cartier chain on Moore’s strapless décolleté was just the extra touch needed. A high jewelery necklace from the Beautés du Monde collection, made of rose gold and petrified wood and studded with yellow and white diamonds, enhanced the red Bottega Veneta dress.

Ali Wong
Against the elegant white Greek-inspired dress, Wong’s chunky Swarovski necklace added an interesting contrast.

Florence Pugh
Pugh wore a rebellious Tiffany & Co. piece made from intricate zigzag metal pieces. she (unsurprisingly) adopted a more punk style with the necklace.

Reese Witherspoon
Witherspoon’s Monique L’Huillier dress was given extra oomph thanks to diamond jewelry from Tiffany & Co, including an art deco-inspired collar necklace.
